Greene School of Irish Dance
The Greene School consists of 65 dancers of various ages and skill levels, ages range between 6 and 21 years. The Students themselves represent the very best that Nova Scotia has in this particular cultural art, and frequently travel out of province to compete. This typically includes annual trips to Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Maine. A recent trip to the Montreal/Ottawa area saw 41 students compete and return with 211 medals and 11 major trophies.
The calibre of the school is such that it has produced 10 dancers who qualified to compete at the Eastern Canadian Regional Championships, 5 dancers who have qualified to represent the school at the North American Championships, and a World Championship qualifying dancer.

The school is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to maintaining Irish Culture through the medium of Traditional Irish Dance, and receives no support from either Government or the Arts Council. Private donations and sponsorships are used to fund travel costs to competitions further afield.
The school is led by Beth Greene, who moved to Dartmouth from Dublin, Ireland in 1974. She has been involved in Irish Dancing for over 20 years, and her love of dance led to the creation and founding of the Greene School of Irish Dance in 1988.
Beth is recognized by her peers as a TCRG the designation of a certified Irish Dance teacher and sanctioned by the governing body An Coimisiún Le Rinci Gaelacha, Dublin, Ireland. She is also a member of the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America.
