Ryan Eavis

Ryan Eavis originally hails from Cape Breton, NS, and is a guitar/banjo player and vocalist in the styles of blues, rock, metal, bluegrass, folk, swing jazz and western swing. Ryan studied at South Plains College in Texas, where his focus was in bluegrass, rock, blues and contemporary music, and where he performed in numerous shows, festivals and recitals. Past projects include classic rock band Cadillac Breakdown, bluegrass ensemble Pickin’ on the Plains, the Ryan Eavis Trio (rock/blues) and numerous gigs as accompanist/solo artist, including with the Halifax Camerata Singers for their Bluegrass Mass.

Ryan is currently the regular banjo sub for The Modern Grass; guitarist/vocalist for RE blues trio; co-host/facilitator for the bluegrass jam at Gus’ pub; a regular performer at the Open Stage Series at the Carleton and lead singer/guitarist for Hairgasm. He is currently in his fourth year in neuroscience at Dalhousie, with a minor in music, and studies guitar with Scott MacMillan, performing in ensembles and as an individual player. When not making music, Ryan is a Nova Scotia archery champion, writes poetry, is formally trained in horsemanship and is one of very few natural bodybuilders in Canada.
