
Ken Davidson
Ken was born in Halifax Nova Scotia and lived in Ottawa for
eighteen years before returning to Nova Scotia. Ken is a musician and provided
early musical training and practical experience since the age of 14. Just a few
orchestral engagements include the National Arts Centre Orchestra, CBC
orchestras under the direction of Ron Milne, Champ Champagne, Bert Carriere,
CJOH Television, ATV Halifax, CBC Halifax Music Maritimes producer Jack
Sorenson. As a composer, Ken has written several film and radio scores: "Fanyan
The Wizard" (Steven Freygood), "The Medium Gets The Message" (Robert Mariner),
"Moses Cody" (NFB), "Tara's Mulch Garden" (NFB), "Just One of The Boys" (NFB),
"The Plot Thickens" (NFB).
Ken has held a position at Acadia University for more than twenty years teaching
Classical guitar, Jazz guitar, popular and functional guitar, and electric bass.
During this period Ken held a part time position as Jazz guitar instructor at
St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish. Ken taught guitar for 14 years
through the Halifax City Schools music department and the Division of Continuing
Education and was Head of the Guitar Department for 5 years at the Maritime
Conservatory of Performing Arts in Halifax.
Ken performs extensively as a soloist and in duo ensembles with Halifax's best.
