Caribbean Connection
A
versatile group under the leadership of Carl “Sleepy” Thomas, a highly
respected member of the Nova Scotia’s music family, and one of the founding
members of the Atlantic Jazz Festival. Known simply as Sleepy (not too many
people know his real name,) he brings to this ensemble his love for people and
music in general. He hails from the country of Trinidad & Tobago and now makes
Halifax his home. As a self-taught percussionist, he is comfortable in just
about any the popular music styles.
The newly formed
Caribbean Connection is just as comfortable in these music styles, be it
soca/calypso, reggae, funk, R&B, rock or jazz. Only the most professional of
musicians perform in this band.
One stalwarts of the group is vocalist Pat Richards who comes from the
island of Antigua and has been performing on the local music scene for many
years. He too is comfortable in just about every music style.
