
Sean Kemp
Violinist Sean Kemp received his musical training in the U.K., where he
received a Diploma in Performance and Teaching from the Royal College of Music
in London. His teachers have included Tessa Robbins and Rodney Friend, and he
has taken masterclasses with Igor Oistrach and Igor Bezrodney. He was also a
Music Scholar at Ampleforth College, and has a Diploma in Acting from the
State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow.
Before moving to Canada, Mr. Kemp performed with many ensembles in Britain,
including the Orchestra at St. John Smith's Square, the London Soloists and
the Parnassus Ensemble. He was also Concertmaster for the Young Musicians
Symphony Orchestra in London. As a soloist he has appeared with the Orchestra
at Blackheath (Lalo, Symphonie Espagnol) and the Parnassus Ensemble,
performing concerti such as the Bruch Concerto, Mozart Concerti in A and G,
the Bach Double Violin Concerto (with Clio Gould) and Vivaldi's Four
Seasons.
He also performed with a broad variety of ensembles under such distinguished
conductors as Sir Neville Mariner, Sir David Wilcox, John Elliot Gardner,
Pinchas Zuckerman, Bramwell Tovey and Sir Colin Davis.
In Canada Mr. Kemp has performed with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and with
diverse artists including Lennie Gallant, with whom he recently toured.
As an actor, he has performed for the Marlowe Theatre, the Stanislavsky
Museum Theatre in Moscow, the Atlantic Theatre Festival and Prairie Theatre
Exchange, also functioning as Musical Director in many productions. He
toured the U.K., Europe and the Far East as a principal soloist in "Spirit of
the Dance."
Mr. Kemp now makes his home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he has a busy
freelance career.
