DjunDjunBa
|
Let the drums speak to you! The group DjunDjunBa plays traditional West- African rhythms that have been passed from generation to generation for millennia. These rhythms endure because they somehow contain a distilled wisdom that we instinctively recognize. Some are joyous, some are meditative, some are aggressive, all speak to your spirit. DjunDjunBa has two members. Bruce Armstrong plays the djun djuns, which provide a hypnotic heartbeat, a melodic, rhythmic foundation for the djembe. Tony Tucker plays supporting djembe patterns and creates solos that weave through the djun patterns, creating an intricate musical tapestry. Tony and Bruce have fun when they play and their infectious spirits infuse the music. These drums can be played with great energy and power, filling a large room with sound, or they can be played softly, making them suitable for quieter occasions. Tony and Bruce study with master drummers from Guinea, staying as close as
possible to the origins of the music. Experience for yourself the joy of
ancient West African music. Sample Recordings
